Archives of Trevosa: The game to play if you like family drama

The Overview:
The Archives of Trevosa is a game of figuring out someone’s family drama seven generations back. You read through half-translated documents to figure out someone’s name and title to find the real heir to the throne. And it was a blast to solve. You go through half translated archives that tell the story of three societies and their contestant fight for the throne. You learn the different titles through context clues and relations to others.
The game play was relatively short, for me it was about five hours. It took me that long was because I was at work for a good chunk of it. It really makes your brain work, in a fun ‘I’m a historian’ way.
My Thoughts:
This was a game I randomly ran across while looking for a different game. It looked easy enough for me a beginner to do and mechanically it was. I enjoyed being a historian and looking through archives to solve a mystery. If you can’t tell via the other past fiveish blogs, I love history. And I love researching. So this game was a perfect past time for me. It gave me a challenge while not be too over the top.
I would definitely recommend this to any cozy detectives or aspiring historians. It will help scatch that itch. It helped me with mine and the part of my brain that wants all the fun tea. It was also a great stress reliever. These past few weeks have been chaotic and not in a fun way. Archives of Trevosa helped me reset and simply chill.
The Graph:
Non-problematic: 100% - Okay. Okay. There are some mildly threatening letters and rebellion did happen… but it’s not overly descriptive and half of it is in a language you have to decipher.
Name meanings:
Ummmm…. No names… There are like 30 different names, and they are all fantasy names…. So… yeah…

Use the notepad: I struggled the most with this part, just because I wanted a physical notepad… but they do offer an in game one that I should have used. I was just too stubborn to use it.
Randomly guessing is not a good thing: This… this was a terrible idea. I tried on two characters and it did not work and made things worse because I couldn’t remember who was who. Just take notes and use your mind palace. Much better results.

This is 4/5 game, I kinda wish there was different families we can so this with, with different levels of difficulty so I could keep playing it, but it was still really fun. Random question. What’s y’alls favorite time in history? Mine is the Triassic Period, they have my favorite dinosaur the Coelophysis and it’s the start of the dinosaurs.

Certainly a break from the indi books into an Indi game story, but nonetheless an enjoyable read!
